સુંદરવિનાશ - Lose It!

Well, my week has already not gone as planned, as far as my health is concerned. I initially intended on going to the gym yesterday, but due to work and an early birthday dinner (I turn 20 in just a few minutes!!), that did not happen. That's okay though, I told myself, since I was off this morning and thus would have plenty of time to go work out. Well as it turns out, not only did I toss and turn all night and wake up with a very sore back, but it was pouring rain all day. NOT a good cure for lack of motivation. So, I have yet to work out.

But, I did get a Nook tablet last night for my birthday, and have had lots of fun playing around with it. One of the apps that I have gotten is called Lose It! and it is not only a food journal, but an exercise journal and nutrient tracker (which always tracks calories, and usually tracks carbs, fat, and protein). So, after entering my specific goals, it has calculated a daily "calorie budget" for me (1,448) so this will make it very easy for me to keep track of what I need to be doing in order to get to 150 pounds by August, which is the approximate date that it gave me according to how much weight I plan on losing each week.

So here is what I have eaten today:

Breakfast - 1 Atkins Caramel Fudge Brownie Bar (170 calories)

Lunch - 1 Roast Beef Sandwich (300 calories), 1 can of Diet Vernors Ginger Ale (0 calories), and 1 Mini Moon Pie (110 calories, 3g fat, 20g carbs, and 1g protein)

Snack (meant to be dinner but I ate it on my way to work, and therefore it was so early that I ended up having another meal after I got off) - 2 Arby's Jr. Roast Beef Sandwiches (400 calories, 14g fat, 48g carbs, and 26g protein), 1 package apple slices with only a fraction of the package of yogurt (100 calories, 8g carbs).

Dinner - 1 can Amy's Organic Minestrone Soup (90 calories, 1.5g fat, 17g carbs, 3g protein), 1 Turkey Sandwich (405 calories, 21.5g fat, 24g carbs, 31g protein). I also had some Strawberry Powerade that I brought home from the drink machine at work, but was unable to track the nutrients.

So that puts my total calories at 1,685, which is 237 over my daily budget. Overall I think I ate pretty well, but the lack of exercise is what put me over. I think I will do just fine if I can just get motivated to work out!

Side note: as I finish up this post, I have officially turned 20!!! Happy Birthday to me! :)

FanGirl05 - Workin Out at Work

So, I have not gotten to the gym yesterday or today, and it's unlikely I will get there tomorrow, but I am still keeping it in mind. However, I only took the elevator once today, and that was when I was with someone who was kind enough to hold the door for me before I could explain I am trying to only take the stairs.
At my job, we have four floors (five, if you count the basement) - the Orchestra level, the First Mezzanine, the Second Mezzanine, and the Third Floor (which is really the fourth, but whatever. I didn't name them) - and at any one time I could be on any of those floors. To get to the Third Floor, you either take the elevator or Fire Escape stairs. The stairs are actually double-storied between 2nd Mezz and Third Floor to accommodate the height of the stage ceiling (the Third Floor extends over the stage, where the other two floors allow for seating in the House) - this means that it really kinda sucks to take the stairs to the third floor, unless you are only going between Third and 2nd Mezz, or you are looking to not take the easy way.
Anyway, during the day today, I walked to and from work twice. Each trip is approx 4 blocks, so this adds up to about 16 blocks today (according to Google maps, it is about 0.3mi each way, which adds up to 1.2mi over the course of the day). I also took several trips from the Orchestra level to the Third Floor and the Second Mezzanine, as well as one or two to the First Mezzanine, and lifted/moved heavy lighting instruments throughout the day (at one point, I was struggling with one instrument so badly - in that it became a workout to move the damn light - that my arms and legs began shaking as if I had been at the gym).

To view my Food Journal, click here or use the link in the sidebar to the right. I will be updating the food journal periodically throughout the week, though I don't plan on posting another entry on the main page until Wednesday.

FanGirl05 - Starting Weight

I would have posted this last night, but my apartment lost internet access for several hours, and I only noticed its return this morning.
I have been weighing myself weekly every Thursday since the beginning of November, so I decided to put the weights on here as well, in order to track what progress I am making. So, though I'm not completely comfortable with the thought of everyone knowing how much I weigh (though, to track weight loss, I know it's necessary), here you go.

Starting Weight, 1/12/12: 201 lbs
Pounds away from Goal: +51

સુંદરવિનાશ (BeautifulDisaster) - Introduction!

About Me
I am a student at a local college, although I am taking some time off to work as a hostess (for now, but hopefully soon as a waitress) at a restaurant and bar in my hometown. I have had weight problems since I was old enough to notice, and I am finally to the point where I am not only fed up with it, but my health is being jeopardized. I am ready to take back my life and become active and fit so that I can truly enjoy what life has to offer me.

Ultimate Goal
I am trying not to put too much emphasis on weight, but 150 would be ideal. I have told myself every year that it would be different and that I would FINALLY be able to wear a bikini during summertime. Well this year, I want that lie I have been telling myself to become the truth. I am sick of wearing a once piece suit under a t-shirt while all my friends strut around in their much cuter bikinis. But this is also much more than looks to me - I want to feel truly healthy, inside and out. This includes my self-image, because I have always had terrible self-esteem, and I am beyond ready to change that!

Plans for Week 1
Well I have already begun to cut out sodas and to make small changes such as parking a little further away so that I have a longer walk, but this coming week I will stop drinking sodas completely and be even more mindful of the small changes I could make - such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator, as my sister already pointed out. I will also go back to the gym on Monday, since I have been paying for a gym membership for a few months now and have been letting it go to waste. And, as my sister also mentioned, I will start a food journal tomorrow so that I can see what I am really putting into my body.

FanGirl05 - Introduction! Yay!

So, this was totally my crazy idea. We were talking on the phone earlier today about how we needed to get healthier, and I mentioned that I am one of those people who needs an accountability partner. So I came up with this idea, so that we could hold each other accountable even though we are really far apart.
We will be posting every other day (starting Monday, January 16) and keeping you updated with what we are doing. We don't have a regimen we are trying to follow (yet) or a set diet (yet) - we just both want to get healthier, and are trying to make sure the other is doing something to progress towards our ultimate goals. In these first posts, we will be introducing ourselves, setting our ultimate goals and deciding how we will be progressing towards those goals the first week.

About Me
I am a recent college graduate, living away from home on my first professional internship. My job takes up a lot of my time and energy, so most days I don't have the initiative to work out. I am hoping that by having something that I have to update every other day with progress, I will be more likely to actually make progress.

Ultimate Goal
I would like to reach 150lbs, but my true goal is to look attractive in this costume at Dragon*Con.
Points to whomever can name this character, bonus points if you tell me what this costume is from - leave a comment!

Goal Deadline: Aug. 16, 2012 (this gives me two weeks for buffer time and to make sure the costume fits)

Plans for Week 1
I am going to track my diet this week, so that I can better judge how it needs to change. I will be setting food goals in Week 2.
As far as exercising, I would like to make it to the gym at least twice the first week. It is going to be a busy week at work, so I will not have the time for more exercise outside of work, but I will walk to work and take stairs instead of elevators whenever I can.
